Ms. Ledbetter took another look this weekend. The sight of our new building almost brought her to tears. Take a look for yourself.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to our Special Olympics Basketball Team for their hard fought battle at State. We came home with a second place Silver Medal! We were only beat twice by a tiny margin - the first loss was a close 30-32, the final game the other team squeaked by us 41-38 in overtime. Everyone played hard!! Nice Job Sentinels!!!!
The State of Washington has put together a Toolkit for the Class of 2010. Find information on key dates, graduation requirements, state exams, alternatives if you don’t graduate, and more. GraduationToolkit.pdf

On February 3rd, 10 colleges came to recruit SLHS high school students and were not disappointed. To say that it was a HUGE success would be an understatement of MAMMOTH proportions. Today SLHS students received a grand total of $783,032.36 in scholarships!!! Below are details each student’s acceptance and scholarship information. Please congratulate them!
Our student behavior, preparation, and dress did not go unnoticed - a huge thanks is due to our career advisor Trisha Pak, our counselors Deb Noble-Perry, Cindy Hollingbery, Penny Nelson-Schlegal, Heather Van Dyke and for Assistant Principal, Julie Baublits for planning the best fair that the HBC has ever experienced. The head of HBC group could not say enough about SLHS and our staff. Also, a number of teachers and staff helped students with portfolios, wrote letters of recommendation, and simply provided the encouraging words that many needed.
This is evidence of our students and staff for continuing to do whatever it takes to help our students be successful. It’s a GREAT DAY TO BE A SENTINEL!

Due to revised boundaries for junior highs and high schools in the Bethel School District, the deadline for accepting student transfer applications for the 2010-11 school year will be February 24 for grades 7 to 12 and April 23 for grades K to 6. Requests received after the deadlines may not be considered until the district receives actual enrollment counts in September. A student transfer request form may be obtained from the district office or downloaded from the district’s website. Notification letters will be mailed by April 2 (secondary) or May 21 (elementary). Approval or denial of transfer requests will be based on established criteria outlined in board policy and procedure 3131 and 3141 for nonresidents. Parents will provide transportation for students who voluntarily attend a school outside their attendance area. For more information, call Debbie Almont at 683-6012 for secondary or Sandy Bradbeer at 683-6014 for elementary.
Watch for grades in the mail. First semester grades will be mailed home around February 9th. If you have Family Access you can view grades on-line immediately. Report cards will NOT be mailed to any student who has:
♦ outstanding fines or fees.
♦ lost or damaged textbooks.
♦ failed to return items from a fundraiser.
Please handle these situations now in order to receive report cards in a timely manner. Report cards will not be mailed home unless all financial responsibilities have been fulfilled. A fee & fine list is posted outside the ASB office. You may also contact Darlene McMakin in the ASB Office at 683-5682 for specific account information.
